The Internet and its Web Browsers

Internet browsers are the most important software application in order to run an Internet. Internet browsers, or also known as web browsers, is the gateway for internet users to search, retrieve and collect information through just one click – and, then, everything is right away available in your computer screen. It also serves as a hyperlink to other billions of resources of data in the internet. Among the widely used internet browsers nowadays are the Mozilla Firefox, Windows Internet Explorer, Opera, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari.

The birth of internet browsers can be traced back to the years when the WorldWideWeb of Tim Berners-Lee was introduced in the market. The existence of such a paved way to various internet applications that further helped internet users in easy access in the cyberworld. The 1994 released of the internet browser Netscape Navigator by Marc Andreessen became the first world’s most popular internet browser with 90% usage worldwide. Seeing the hit market of Netscape Navigator, Microsoft responded to the trend in the cyber market by creating its own internet browser in 1995 – the Internet Explorer. Up to the present, the Internet Explorer browser has become one of the widely used browsers. By collaborating with Windows, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer could dominate the cyber market. Hence, the birth of internet’s “browser war.” Netscape, for its part, re-invented its browser and produced what we now called the Mozilla Firefox. Although it has become famous, Firefox has not surpassed the high usage percentage of Internet Explorer. In 1996, Opera browser was also introduced and was widely accepted in the cyberworld. It is mostly used in mobile phone internet browsers as a pre-installed application as well as other video game systems. Another web browser is the Apple’s Safari. From its release, Safari has become the dominant application for Apple-based web browsing products. The latest internet browser is the Google Chrome. Although not yet widely-used in the internet, Google Chrome is slowly picking up its pace in the cyber world in terms of usage. It is also the pre-installed web browser in Google's mobile phones such as Androids.

With all these developments in the market, one can say that technological advancement has no boundaries and its limits is just within a short period of time as inventions are emerging almost every day. Internet has now become a staple part of every human being as everything needs to know can be found in the internet. And internet browsers are making it easier for users to access and navigate the internet. Regardless of what internet browsers there is, what is considered mostly by users is that it is user friendly and can be accessed easily. Users also see to it that internet browsers are compatible or in-synch with the operational system they are using in their computers. It is just a matter of which is comfortable.

Meanwhile, it will not be a surprise anymore if tomorrow or the next day, another internet browser will pop-out in the market. Besides, nothing is impossible in the world of cyber.
